On November 30th at 1:17pm, Patrolman Anthony King arrested Eugene Steinhauer 3rd, 20, of Barnegat for theft after investigating the theft of a woman’s wallet from the Country Farms on West Bay Avenue.
Officers responded to the store after it was reported that a female victim had left her wallet at the counter after purchasing lottery tickets. Upon returning to the store a short time later, she discovered the wallet had been taken.
Officers reviewed the surveillance video and noticed that the suspect who took the wallet used a credit card to pay for his items. A check of the credit card purchase information revealed Steinhauer as the subject.
Officers spoke with Steinhauer at his Village Drive residence and placed him under arrest for the theft. The officers were able to recover the victim’s wallet and all of its contents (valued at $239) which they returned to her.
Steinhauer was charged with theft and was processed and released pending a court date.
